The plan was to be on the road by 6:30, so that plan.........gone. I consider jumping up, packing up, speeding off. That plan..........gone. So, here I am enjoying another cup of coffee, listening the the spring sounds. Birds chirping, grass growing, Rich doing something with the tractor. Ahhhhh......
I was supposed to be running Roscoe at the AK9C agility trial in NH. I am here, sipping my second cup of coffee instead. Neither of us slept well. Over the last couple of days he had has some constipation issues. This happens, I think, because of his medication. And because I haven't given him as much canned pumpkin, perhaps? Or enough fish? I don't know, but it happens. Poor buggar was a bit uncomfortable. I am thinking a good long hike today may just be what he needs. Not the stress of trialing in NH.
Besides, we have run some runs already at the Crappy Tails CPE event. Friday we did standard. Yesterday we did standard and jackpot. He wasn't great, but he didn't suck. In fact, he beat everyone except Spur. Did you just read that? Spur BEAT ROSCOE!! Yep, Spur freakin' ROCKED!!! He should, though, he is WAY more athletic than Roscoe, but remember he worries so and it gets him. Not this time. He entered the building screaming and nutty. I heard........."Hey, here comes Spur!!!".......and........"Oh boy! Spur has entered the building"..........and other comments as I marched that little, crazed, screaming, monkey pants to the start line! He won every class, beating the times of all the heights in our level. He FREAKIN' ROCKED!! Sadly, I didn't bring my camera. But, I am really pumped that he IS indeed ready for trialing. I really feel that way, completely, now. He is learning to really LOVE the energy at trials. I think he sometimes thinks the crowd is there for HIM. He announces his presence (LOUDLY!), he marches along wanting to say HI to his fans and is starting to get really pumped about the whole event. YAY for The Spurminator!!!!
OK, so granted rocking CPE isn't THAT big a deal, but whatevah!!! It pumped me up, it pumped him up, it was GREAT! He did that scary, loud teeter twice and kept going without more than a tiny ear flick. He did FOUR dog walk contacts without a hand up from the judge!!! OH happy day........YAY!!!! And one was quite fast with a tunnel at the end, so if ever there would be a leap, that would be it! Nope, he ran awesome!
Roscoe - I think we had digestion issues. A little plugged up. He ran fine, everyone thought he did great, but for Roscoe at Crappy Tails, no. He is usually WAY high there and he wasn't. So, a day off today may be just what he needs. It's hard to say because a day of JUST Roscoe running can be really great for him, but at 11 years old I think perhaps he needs some "detoxing" today. Hanging out with mom and dad, long walks on the farm and woods, helping us garden and fix fence. No demands. Besides, I entered that trial today thinking it would be icky, early April weather. Um.......it's going to be record highs today and what a day to be home hanging out doing yard work, gardening and just generally relaxing. Ahhh....................
