So, panic sets in!!!

Yesterday I had to go back out the door to get Roscoe who I had attempted to call to come in and he heard my voice as coming from outside and off he went. I stepped WRONG!! Went DOWN hard! My ankle twisted and SCREAMED at me. OMG!!! PANIC!!!! I landed fine and held myself there on hands and knees for a minute thinking all the things that a broken or twisted ankle would result in. First, no work. Second, no play. Third..................NO!!!!! I would NOT make a good patient! Not wanting to get up by myself and risk further injury I screamed for Rich to come get me. I'm hyperventilating at this point. Get inside and feel faint! He gets me something to drink, some ice for the ankle and I sit them wiggling my toes. OK, I can do that. No pain. Well, the damn thing hurts, but I can wiggle my ankle and toes. Breathing becomes more steady. I think I'm OK. Ice is starting to make me chilled, so I remove it and take some Advil.

Reassess. It seems fine. I mean, fine in that it isn't broken or sprained. PHEW!!! Rich starts calling me all kinds of names.....Drama Queen, Pansy, Wimp, Freak Out, Woosie, oh shut up dude, it fucking hurt! I take off my sock and there is a bad scrape and bruise, but minimal swelling. OK, so panic subsided and I'm feeling a LOT better. Oh my, they say some of the worst injuries are on stairs. Yep, doesn't take much. I think that's probably why I freaked out so bad, I had visions of all my friends who have broken, twisted, sprained ankles and feet and toes and arms from falling on stairs or even just one step.

Bruise is bad, but it isn't very swollen and it is OK. YAY!!!!!

So, on a lighter note I have BIG news!!! Bim did his very first real DW planks!!!! I stapled his carpet to flat planks and he looked great. Silvia said time to go straight to two DW planks. Gulp. Is he ready? Can he do it? Um, yep, he can!!!! And he looked AMAZING!!!!!

Oops

Thanks Laura, didn't realize I posted the same video twice.
Here is extension/collection........

And another lesson from a couple weeks ago.............

Today's exercise will be serps. Oh my, we have tried them a few times and now that The Mighty Bimster is six months old he has some POWER and speed and isn't quite understanding it is about the jumps. He totally understands to wrap, if I give my collection cue early enough. No sloppy handling with this little powerhouse, he won't let me get away with it, LOL!!!!

Six months old, probably over 16" tall and 23lbs.

Videos as promised!

 Working extension and then collection..

 First sequence using low bars.........

First time doing any "lengthy" heeling and first time outside. Trying to get him to not look at my hand. Silvia's suggestion - holding the hand behind my back. Not sure I care about him looking at my hand? I use hand signals almost exclusively, so not sure that's an issue? Experimenting......

Been playing with a free app!!!

Pretty cool!!! A photo editing app called Aviary. Really fun.........

Hey!!!!! Did to miss me?????

Ok, sorry, some have written me complaint about my lack of blog posts. Um....remember I have a highly active PUPPY!!!!!! We are busy, busy and and the weather has been fabulous, so we are enjoying life to the fullest!!!!

Bim is now six months and a bit bigger than I had planned. Pretty sure he is now 16 1/2", which is how big his mum is. His dad is 15 1/2, so we had hoped for no bigge than 16. Going over that means he will jump 18" in USDAA which he can do easily, but it means he jumps that in USDAA and 16 in AKC. Would rather a dog have to jump only one height, but oh well. Nothing I can do, we aren't sending hm back!! 😉
He is now 22.5lbs. A big boy!!! And SUPER fun to train. I promise I'll post videos soon. He is now doing low bars, 4" jumps and it feels like he's truly doing agility!!!!! hE LOVES it and barks and screams his way around a course. We may end up called the loud team!!!! lol!!!! It is a bit to get used to, I have never run a loud barker before.

He and Spur are becoming very nice friends. And that makes me very happy.

Rotten Roscoe is showing signs of age that makes me feel the end is coming. More drinking, pooping n the house. I thnk he just forgets, then can't hold it. Had my niece and nephew for dinner last week and he stepped in it and walked all through the kitchen before we realized it. Oh MY!!!!! Amazing no one smelled it??????? I guess my fabulous cooking smells masked it? Oi!!!! Glad it was my niece and nephew and not some others who might have been totally grossed out. We watch our step now.........always.

We have been busy little beavers!

Work and play keeping us very busy!

Bim is doing Silvia's foundation class. We do the work with bars on the ground. Actually, mostly around wings. He's doing SO well!!! He seems so mature for a five month old puppy. Especially a male, everyone says males mature slower. Hmmmm, not Bim. And he's growing UP!!! Lost his first canine tooth, thank GOODNESS!!! Ouch, those are SHARP!

He is about 20lbs and 15", give or take. Huh, dude, time to slow that growth down! I would like him to stay 16" or below. Not a BIG deal, but if he goes over 16" he would have to jump 18" in USDAA. If he stays 16" and below he can do 16" in both venues, which would be ultimate. We shall see, I think it will be very close!

We are now working figure 8s and tunnel sends and come to hand work.

Oh dear, sorry Roscoe!

He likes to wander around when we are training and so long as he isn't getting in the way I allow it and toss him cookies sometimes. Oops, this session I thought he had moved out of the way............bonk. He got slammed. He seems fine, but what a BAD mama I am.

I am not doing much with Bim's agility training, mostly tricks, but we started our cik/cap wraps around trees in the woods, so I decided to see how he would do on a wing. Nailed it!!!

Silvia says he has amazing use of his body and great speed for a pup so young. He will be 19 weeks on Monday. He seems SO mature for his age!!!

We put it together this morning. First time doing wraps on a different wing, so he didn't drive as well at first, but I think he'll get this game pretty quick! You are seeing ALL the reps, so we really aren't doing very much.

Such a good little monkey!!!

Some training videos

Bim is SO into training, he gets really excited about it and is doing so well!!!

However, picking up items isn't as easy for him as some other things even though he will carry his food dishes around if we leave them down. Guess I should click that!!! :D

The first time asking him to get into heel position!!!

Some cik/cap work........

Start of froggie......

Start of 2o2o. A bit of that hopping back shows up here.....

Smart puppy!

Took him three sessions to figure out he needed to be on the pillow first. Damn, this pup isn't even four months old and he knows like 10 tricks and swims and can do his multiplication tables. And write in cursive. He's a genius!!!

Bim is not a super model

Spur is!!! I can't take a bad photo of Spur, but holy smokes can Bim look DORKY!!!!! Seriously goofy, dorky Gomer Pile at times!!!!

Especially action shots!!!

But, we did manage to get a lovely stacked photo for the breeder. Kind of fun to see him stacked, he appears to have lovely conformation, but I guess that was no surprise. She is a good breeder.

He had his booster yesterday and weighed in at 13lbs. One pound shy of Spur's weight!!! Actually, Spur varies from 13 1/2 - 14 1/2 lbs. On Sunday I put the wicket to him at the trial and he was 12.75". Monday he will be 15 weeks. Damn, they grow up fast!!!!

Bim's first month!

Wow, nearly a month he has been here!!! And he's grown like a weed!! Put a wicket to him at the show on Sunday and he is 12 3/4" tall. Weighed 11.5lbs. He's pretty average compared to his littermates. Although his "twin" is MUCH beefier! At nearly 15lbs already! :O

Bim has no trouble eating and is feeling just right for weight. We are trying to be careful with his jumping and doing stairs. Ugh, carrying him down the stairs all the time is annoying, but we have these growth plates to worry about until he is about 6 months old! :O Never had one this young with that sort of thing to worry about. Hiking has been minimal, so that's not much of a concern. The deer flies are BRUTAL in the woods, although they totally prefer Spur to Bim. Poor Spur. Lucky Bim.

This video shows beginning tricks, he is now quite a bit advanced with all of them and knows even more! :D He's SUPER smart and quick to learn things! So much fun!! I never thought a puppy would be so much fun!!! He's just the nicest boy!!!!

Still can't convince Spur to play with him, so he is attending a very fancy day care once/week to get some puppy play and socialization in. There are usually about 7 pups and two trainers so it is WELL monitored!! Not your usual day care. We may do one or two more sessions. I am hopeful Spur will eventually play with him, but Bim actually doesn't push the issue. Spur has snapped at him a few times and, well, Bim got the picture and doesn't push it. I don't think he is the type of dog who will be madly interested in other dogs. He likes to play and he and Moose play really nicely, thankfully. Good little Moose.

I have been taking photos, but I have to say he isn't the fashion model Spur is. In fact, some of his action shots are quite horrid! He looks totally goofy and strange. LOL!!! Spur can have a goofy expression and it is still the cutest and most beautiful photo. Not Bim. When he is goofy, boy is he GOOFY!!!

Bim tricks 13 weeks old

You can tell, sits and downs are not our favorite. In fact, we haven't practiced them since last week. We like active tricks instead! :D

Brill Bim!!

That's what they say in the UK. Brill. I am assuming that is short for brilliant? Bim is BRILL!!!!

Thursday, July 23, 2015

Brilliant puppy!!

I'll try to post video later, but OMG he already knows so many things!!!! Wave, both arms, spin on a perch both directions on verbals, sit, down, stay, nose touch!!!! Brilliant!! he can't wait to train and is SO good and toy motivated!!!

Took him to he park yesterday and he met many families and saw many different things!', he's pretty unflappable, but not without caution, good boy!!!

My only complaint is I wish Spur would play with him. He's stuck here with no one but Us Humans to play with. I watch his siblings on Facebook playing with their new housemates and I am envious. Sigh......maybe in time?

Look, his head is the same size as Spurs!!

Puppy has arrived!!!!

OK, so it's been a week already, but damn a lot happened in one week!!!!

OK, first thing was naming him.......we decided on Bim, short for Bimini. Kennel name Basileas In Motion. Rich calls him Bimini Cricket!!! We ADORE him!!!!! he is the most perfect puppy!!! Almost housebroken, good with he other dogs - Spur doesn't really like him much. He is super sweet and cuddly, we just can't believe how good he is. Sleeps in his crate all night!! Perfect!

So, Monday evening on our walk he does zoomies through the tall grass and pokes his eye with a stiff blade of grass. It lodges in his cornea!!!!! We head to the ER who sends us to another ER where they take a photo to send to the ophthalmologist. HUH????? Why the first ER vet couldn't do that is beyond me!!!! Slightly....OK quite pissed about that. The ophthalmologist says it would be best to wait the night with antibiotic drops and return in the morning for a $2-3000 surgery. HUH???? First, I sure would like to see that vet manual saying its best to wait a night before removing a foreign body????? WTF!!!!!

Well, that's what we have to do, but we go the next morning to a local ophthalmologist and she uses sedation and removes it!!! Geesus, that should have been done the night before. Now he might possibly have a permanent scar!!! Won't affect his vision much, but damn am I pissed!!! If you don't want to handle emergencies just don't answer the phone!!!! Asshole vet!!!!

he is still getting drops and we will see, maybe it will eventually clear up as he ages.

Here are a few photos......

He's freakin' adorable!!!!! ❤️❤️❤️😍😍💓💞💖
