This is the story of Roscoe and Spur and Bim. Roscoe was doomed to death for biting. I took in the little bastard!
Spur came from the 2007 biggest puppy mill bust the state of Maine has ever seen. He's nice, too!
Bim is our newest addition. My first ever bought dog. Came from a wonderful miniature american shepherd breeder in England!!!!
This blog is about the life of my little dogs and me, Amy Carlson! A silly self-indulgent blog that might bring a smile to your face. :D
Jones is off to TN for USDAA Nationals. I hope his DW holds up and he runs like he does here at home. That is doubtful, 7 years with a stopped contact might be hard to undo, but maybe Dee can get him running well. They do get a practice run. I probably won't get video until they return. Damn!
His last training session went well!!! I would not normally try three turns in a row, but he seemed to do so well I gave it a try!! Good boy!! He is SO smart!!
And just because it is really fun to watch in full speed............
Oh, today so many of my friends are on their way driving to TN for the USDAA Nationals. I did that two years ago and it was fun, but very time consuming, and honestly it wasn't that well organized. I had one run a day and that is just a BORE!! his year there are even more dogs entered. I imagine it will be long days and not enough agility runs for each dog, but maybe they will organize it better. I might watch some live feed. so curious how Jones will do with his new running dog walk. I will post video tomorrow. he has been doing so great!!!
I think I am addicted to it. I am feeling withdrawals knowing I won't be training it for a few weeks. I do seem to get high off it!!! it is THAT much fun!!!!
We had a slight "bobble" for a few sessions. Odd, really, he started looking at me on the down ramp if I ran on his right and would leap. Not just missing, but leaping. It was odd. We went back and forth so he could understand the no reward vs jackpot for this for a few sessions. It wasn't really sinking in, so two days ago I set it up so that I could be WAY ahead of him, actually at the tunnel opening to prevent him from looking at me and to get him driving to the tunnel better. I also set up a short straight tunnel. It worked! So, yesterday I tried holding back just a bit and he was still driving to the tunnel and not looking back. In fact, we had our first 100% session, good boy!!!
And a few in real time because my mom complained on facebook about the slow motion voice. Hahaha, it is odd, but I don't know how to silence that.
Poor little Roscoe is feeling some pain. We don't know exactly what is going on because I am not spending $5000 on an MRI to know for sure. He is fine if he is moving around, by lying down causes pain. He can manage OK if he is on a flat bed, so we changed all his beds to square, flat beds and that helps. At night sometimes he cries in pain, poor little guy. We tried him on some NSAIDs and muscle relaxer and opiate and neuropain relieve, and daily cold laser, but he isn't any better. I am thinking take him off the NSAID and give him the four days "wash out" and then try prednisone. I feel bad for him. It sucks getting old.
He really liked this place. Our first time here. VERY cramped and crowded and loud. The perfect setting for Spur!!! :D The flooring is very grippy rubber and I think he didn't stutter step as much as he does at AK9C where the flooring is slippery and old. He sure looks happy and speedy! And we got a lot of nice comments on our runs. :D Love this little guy, he sure has come a long way!!
This video is from a trial last weekend. He got all his DW's and did three at a match with a thrown toy. Looks like a dropped front foot, good little man! These are new to him and I always think a little remarkable since he does exclusively rear feet hits.
Yesterday I moved the DW. It was getting so that going towards the road he was looking directly into the setting sun and that's not fair and even dangerous. Now it has trees to shade the sun. It is a mirror image of the set up and interestingly he has trouble going the way it was easier before. Hmmmm, lead change issue? One side preference? Curious it looks like he changes to his left lead even when starting on a tight right lead turn. I haven't studied his lead preferences, so now I need to go back and see. His grey furry legs are hard to see on video. Spur's white socks made it very easy.
I sure am super proud of him!!! Making some really hard adjustments here!! I now have no doubt he knows his job. Wow, impressive!! :D
Her eye is closed, but that's how it is these days. she hardly sees much, so that is how it is. Poor thing. still I do like this photo, the light is cool!!!
I'm not sure why the text is different colors????? Ugh, blogger has become a real pain!!!! Or why the text above us underlined?????
So, we lost a lot of leaves in the wind yesterday, but still plenty of color out there!!!
Tried to capture the geese in flight.
I seem to have figured out how to place text, too!! yay, me!!! a,little more time and I will have this figured out. Hopefully, I will be back to posting more often!!!
Can I get this to actually work? some photos from yesterday. OK, so I have to actually type before adding the photos as I can not seem to do that after. But, if this works it seems to be loading myphotos fine. Hesse were all taken yesterday. We had a really nice woods hike!! so pretty outright now!!!
