AKC trial report!

Roscoe was still kind of down, even for indoors. So much so that he barely made time and got all of ONE MACH point. :O But, two hours after that he ROCKED his standard, but called for a refusal at the tunnel because he went past it some before going in. DARN! Go figure, I have no idea his mind set and why so down in JWW and so up in standard??

Spur missed his weave entry in JWW, not really sure why. Hard entry and I probably applied too much pressure because he went past them and entered wrong, but otherwise ran great. Then he FREAKIN’ ROCKED his standard for a fourth place out of 28 12” dogs!! He was beat only by some WICKED fast dogs. His time was 44.12, which is a really nice time! I TOTALLY got in his way on my blind after the a-frame. Doi! He was going faster than I expected. His teeter was iffy, I really need to make sure he rides it all the way down. That would have been a fair fly off call, had she called it.

He was the ONLY mixed breed there today! :D Very proud of my little mutt!!

AKC trial repot!

Wow, what a soggy weekend! But, today was LOVELY! Friday was just plain soggy. I scratched Roscoe. He ain't happy in the rain. Spur, he did fine and Q'd in all three runs. Good little Monkey Pants! He placed second in Jumpers only to a dog who is trying out for the World Team. That felt good!

He finished his Excellent A title, so from now on we work on double Q's and lots of points. Yay!! He's a "big" boy now!!!

His standard from today. Nice dog walk Spur-minator. Still not as fast as in practice, but sure has nice deep hit striding right through his contact. He knows his job!

His Open FAST which he didn't get. It was tunnel to weaves and I should have stayed back a little. Still, look how happy he was!! YAY!!! To think he was such a stress case I almost quit with him. Happy boy say his fan Mary at the score table and decided to show off!!! :D He LOVES his fans!!!

His jumpers from today. A little slow off the start, but then he runs pretty well. Good boy!!!! Placed third! Again, only to the World Team potential dog and a dog on his way to the Invitational, so that was not a bad run!!! :D

Roscoe ran one run yesterday and today. Yesterday he looked AWESOME, but took an off course tunnel. Today, a little pokey and down and he missed his weave entry. So unlike him, but outdoors is just not his think. Next weekend, two days indoors. I hope he feels happier.

Trial report!

First - Laure, Lance and Vito!! I can't seem to post a comment in MY comment section replying to your comment. How dumb is that??? Anyway, um......nope, no stride regulators for The Spur Man. That could just be the thing to never get him on the dog walk again, LOL!! I probably could work them slowly with a plank, but no, I'll work through this. He was SPOT ON this weekend with his dog walks. PERFECT, low hits. Not super fast, though.

Saturday's first class was Novice FAST. He got the bonus, but then the scribe removed it. Judge doesn't know why, says she doesn't remember even though it was only 20 minutes earlier and he is one of only TWO mix breed dogs at this AKC trial. Doi. I didn't argue. He knocked the triple and that kind of bummed him out. Like all weekend bummed, but he pulled it together to Q in all is other runs.

Good little man finally got that last Open Standard leg with a lovely run. Not super fast, he was still thinking of that knocked triple. **Not to self, do some triples at home on occasion.

He won his Excellent Standard saturday, but that was the A division, so not much competition. Sunday I thought he might run faster, but not really. He was good, but not as fast as he was at the NEAT trial a few weekend's ago. Still thinking about that triple? Perhaps. He Q'ed and ended up second in JWW and that was the B division. But, the super fast dogs all NQ'd. It was a HARD course. He was not super fast, but he ran it nicely and confidently.

Roscoe was only entered Saturday. He was a mess. Not at all into it and I pulled him out half way through the course. He just doesn't want to do it outside, plain and simple. He does fine at home and at class, but not at a trial. It's just not something his mind can wrap around. Darn. I hate seeing him that way.

USDAA Team trial report. The day I came back to reality.

Well, some sort of reality, I guess. Still high from his RI agility trial with his awesome performances winning P.G.P and P.S.J and looking REALLY good!

Then BANG, we fall down and crash to the ground, air popped out of our happy balloon. Am I being melodramatic? Perhaps, his first run doesn't look THAT bad. He Q'd in PGP and PSJ again, which gives him two tournament q's for next year, which is nice.

However, we have not done anything indoor on rubber mats since, um, March? April? He cringed at the sounds. The teeter BANGS loud, bars drop loud, leashes drop loud, chairs make different noises. He cringed, a lot on Saturday. It was SUCH a small, intimate trial that it was combined to one day, but because it was so small it was very quiet. That meant all the sounds that bother him were LOUD! Does that make sense? It was quiet, so sounds were loud. That SO doesn't make sense, does it, but it's true. When there is a huge buzz of activity, barking dogs, lots of voices and noises it all just blends together. When it's quiet, one simple think like a leash being dropped on the floor is sharp and he noticed. A LOT!!

So, we were a little bit of a mess. For me, it's just SO hard when I see him having trouble. He needs me to be more "there", yet I simply lose it!! Seriously, I lost my way TWICE on course!!! And that doesn't help him at all. And it means an elimination for that run. Which doesn't help our team. We didn't Q. My teammate was SO nice and kind, but that's my first time not getting a team Q. I have only done team three times before, but each time MY dogs did great and helped our team Q.

This time, it was all me and Spur for our NQ. Darn it.

Oh well, it was an eye opener. I need to get him out to some indoor facilities on rubber and do some training. He obviously still has worries that I need to work through. He did well and got better and his last two runs were actually pretty OK and our Relay (last run) we made no mistakes and he looked pretty good, so he can recover. He is resilient. I have said that before and it's true. He tries so hard and wants to do this and be good at it. I know he does. He gives it his all!!!!

Rally-O, here we come!

Collie Club trial today in Portland at the Marriot. I am a little worried about the footing. They cover the rugs with plastic. It will be interesting to see how my dogs handle that. Colby especially has issues with certain places. She did NOT like "It's A Dog's World", at all, and basically shut down on me. Judy said she wasn't THAT bad, but I think so. Not sure we would qualify if Colby pulls on of her......"MA! I DO NOT like it here and you are mean to make me work through it!".....routines. Roscoe, he should be fine. But, one never knows. He looked pretty good last night at class, but he is such a case at times he could get weird.

I'll try to get videos.
