Our local Maine AKC trial was a blast this year!!

Not that it isn't fun, but for the past ten years it has been either 110 degrees or POURING rain. The weather gods were never on our side for this trial. So, to have it 69 and partly cloudy one day, then 70 and mostly sunny the next two was SUPERB!!!! The dogs LOVED it!  Spur had a blast and was so happy even though it was a pretty small trial. They moved this trial to a lovely location. Plenty of shade for the tents and spectators, nice grassy areas, a fenced in dog park area. Really great fun!!!! Three days of agility and I didn't have to drive farther than 20 minutes. THAT'S what I call perfect!!!

More Bahamas!!!

We saw very little wildlife. FISH galore, but not many birds or other animals. Little lizards with curly tails here and here, but that was about it.

But there were fish!!!!!! We tossed them organic waste, our eggshells and such.

Down the road a house had an amazing gazebo with nick backs and art that was SO cool. We wanted to trespass and have cocktails there and watch the sunset, but we chickened out.

Besides we had our own deck to watch the sunset and have cocktails!!!! and snorkel to our hearts content!!!! every day snorkeling right off the deck!!!!
A barracuda followed Rich home one time!!!! :O

Can you see it in the upper right corner????

Boats anchored out front and we all watched the dolphins swim past!!!!

More Bahamas!!!

We island hopped. There were many choices. Hope Town has the oldest settlement and was very much like a small New England town, only the houses are TINY!! You can't tell that from the photos, but these are seriously small!!!

we saw very few birds. strange!!!! This little night heron was on a lawn eating some grubs or something.

We saw lots of golf carts. The transportation of choice in Hope Town.

We went to Guana and enjoyed the beautiful beach and beach side cafe!!! Fish sandwiches were our staple all week.

Some kids made a paw print out of seaweed. :D

So I sit in an airport waiting to get home

Flew to the Bahamas in a small plane with hubby!!! It took two days as we stopped to visit friends and just to enjoy our freedom. flying to the Bahamas was amazing and terrifying and incredibly interesting. Hubby's skill is a seriously mind boggling consideration. listening to all the air traffic control and radio waves of confusion and making it sound easy and flawless just had my mind spinning. Or maybe that was the Valium.

The Bahamas are dreamlike!!! We land and look around at our unfettered travel and smile at each other. We smile at the security guards who tell us we parked the plane in the wrong spot. They smile back and nod and say it's OK and just leave it there. We do. Filled out our customs reports and paperwork with no one else around. Walk to the rental car and drive off!!!! To a house ON the water! fish swimming all around!!! Slap on the snorkeling gear we found in the closet and go find Dory!! You know, the yellow fish from Finding Nemo? I saw HER!!!!! OMG!!!!!

We could look down off the deck and see Dory!!!!!

And so much more!!!!!

Read all the pamphlets we could find at the house and learned there was a parrot preserve on the island!!! WHAT???? How much better does it get????? We make plans to head out there in the morning.

Drove out the next morning on the most boring road you can imagine. Nothing to look at, just trees and brush. For MILES!!! We drive 35 miles of nothing and never saw any signs for this parrot preserve. NOTHING!!! we get to the end of the island and never saw this "parrot preserve, open from dawn to dusk and free admission". The most we saw was this sign......

This was the only parrot we ever saw!!!!!! The locals we asked had no idea, either!!!!! Drove back, making one small detour to Pete's Pub for lunch. 11 miles off the beaten path.

Rainy day tricks!

A couple days of rain, so out came the trick training to keep the dogs busy. Actually, we never missed a walk between rain drops. But, I decided to do a little training for the heck of it. We were working on tricks pretty regularly there, but with summer arriving SO much to do outside, so we haven't done any work in a while.

Not sure Roscoe remembered his back up, but, well, yep he did!! Pretty cute!!

Spur never finished the backward weaving so we revisited that. Can't even remember when we worked on that last. He's getting it, slowly. Just need to polish it off some. And started forward leg weaving. That's easy and shouldn't take long.

We got her plaque!!!

and it is perfect. I am still SO terribly sad and miss her SO much. I just can't believe what a presence she had and how much a part of our lives she really was. she was SO special.

The bane of our existence!!! LOL!!! We are not sure if this is tom or Jerry - who would be Jeraldine because she is a girl, not a boy as first thought. Notice who is on a leash!!!????

there are now five babies. they are so stinkin cute!!!!!

The bluebirds now have babies and are very busy feeding.

the cliff swallows arrived to find their home occupied and after some "discussions" they are now checking out the new house.  That would make me very happy!!! They are not as shy as the blue birds.
We also have arrow babies on another house, but it has been decided those are "ghetto" birds. so, we have the high rent district and the ghetto now in our yard. I guess we will call the phoebes in the barn middle class.
