This is the story of Roscoe and Spur and Bim. Roscoe was doomed to death for biting. I took in the little bastard!
Spur came from the 2007 biggest puppy mill bust the state of Maine has ever seen. He's nice, too!
Bim is our newest addition. My first ever bought dog. Came from a wonderful miniature american shepherd breeder in England!!!!
This blog is about the life of my little dogs and me, Amy Carlson! A silly self-indulgent blog that might bring a smile to your face. :D
Bim is SO into training, he gets really excited about it and is doing so well!!!
However, picking up items isn't as easy for him as some other things even though he will carry his food dishes around if we leave them down. Guess I should click that!!! :D
The first time asking him to get into heel position!!!
Some cik/cap work........
Start of froggie......
Start of 2o2o. A bit of that hopping back shows up here.....
Took him three sessions to figure out he needed to be on the pillow first. Damn, this pup isn't even four months old and he knows like 10 tricks and swims and can do his multiplication tables. And write in cursive. He's a genius!!!
Spur is!!! I can't take a bad photo of Spur, but holy smokes can Bim look DORKY!!!!! Seriously goofy, dorky Gomer Pile at times!!!!
Especially action shots!!!
But, we did manage to get a lovely stacked photo for the breeder. Kind of fun to see him stacked, he appears to have lovely conformation, but I guess that was no surprise. She is a good breeder.
He had his booster yesterday and weighed in at 13lbs. One pound shy of Spur's weight!!! Actually, Spur varies from 13 1/2 - 14 1/2 lbs. On Sunday I put the wicket to him at the trial and he was 12.75". Monday he will be 15 weeks. Damn, they grow up fast!!!!
Wow, nearly a month he has been here!!! And he's grown like a weed!! Put a wicket to him at the show on Sunday and he is 12 3/4" tall. Weighed 11.5lbs. He's pretty average compared to his littermates. Although his "twin" is MUCH beefier! At nearly 15lbs already! :O
Bim has no trouble eating and is feeling just right for weight. We are trying to be careful with his jumping and doing stairs. Ugh, carrying him down the stairs all the time is annoying, but we have these growth plates to worry about until he is about 6 months old! :O Never had one this young with that sort of thing to worry about. Hiking has been minimal, so that's not much of a concern. The deer flies are BRUTAL in the woods, although they totally prefer Spur to Bim. Poor Spur. Lucky Bim.
This video shows beginning tricks, he is now quite a bit advanced with all of them and knows even more! :D He's SUPER smart and quick to learn things! So much fun!! I never thought a puppy would be so much fun!!! He's just the nicest boy!!!!
Still can't convince Spur to play with him, so he is attending a very fancy day care once/week to get some puppy play and socialization in. There are usually about 7 pups and two trainers so it is WELL monitored!! Not your usual day care. We may do one or two more sessions. I am hopeful Spur will eventually play with him, but Bim actually doesn't push the issue. Spur has snapped at him a few times and, well, Bim got the picture and doesn't push it. I don't think he is the type of dog who will be madly interested in other dogs. He likes to play and he and Moose play really nicely, thankfully. Good little Moose.
I have been taking photos, but I have to say he isn't the fashion model Spur is. In fact, some of his action shots are quite horrid! He looks totally goofy and strange. LOL!!! Spur can have a goofy expression and it is still the cutest and most beautiful photo. Not Bim. When he is goofy, boy is he GOOFY!!!
I am a full time pet sitter/dog walker. My past life I was a veterinary technician. I keep my license current in the state of Maine. This blog is about Roscoe, Colby and Spur, and my crazy life surrounded by animals.
